I was able to do 2 loads of wash. Only
waiting about 15 minutes for the other couple to finish up their second
wash. Of course, that made time to
visit. Janet and Robert are from Rock
Creek, off the Patapsco River. Though they have cruised south before, it has
been many years, they feel like newbies. I
offered to fold their wash since they needed to get the rental car in a few
minutes. Janet offered to pick up the
two items I could us from Harris Teeter’s. So, I finished the wash while she
picked up fresh basil and bananas.
As I was finishing up the laundry, I met
Will of SV SEREINE. I was glad to hear
that he has been enjoying the cruise and was heading over to West Marine to
pick up his new dinghy. The engine was
shipped to the marina yesterday. He is
anxious to get it all settled on board.
We hope to catch up later on during our trek south.
I made up some bruschetta, sliced Dubliner
cheese and grabbed some crackers so we could join Scott and Connie on MY EASY LIVIN’ with Gene & Deb for “docktails.”
As predicted, the rains and winds came, but we stayed high and dry
aboard EASY LIVIN’. Both couples keep
their boats in New Bern. Thankfully,
both escaped Florence’s fury, but told stories of others who didn’t fare as
well. The conversations drifted from
topic to topic and an enjoyable time was had by all, even Dodger, Connie and
Scott’s beautiful black lab. It was
interesting that all of us are live aboards.
We discussed our pet peeves: space, storage and having to move multiple
items, multiple times to get what’s needed…and then put them all back. When we
returned to PEKABU, we were no longer hungry for dinner as there were so many
good appetizers.
We made sure that water was topped off and
we were ready to leave in the morning.
