It is amazing
how well you sleep when you decide not to set an alarm. Surprisingly, woke up before 7:30.
Pete was able
to catch up on work that was put on hold due to yesterday’s excursion. I took
advantage of the bonus day at the marina to catch up on some chores and defrost
the refrigerator. I figured that we will
be on the move for the next couple of days and I prefer to defrost when plugged
in to shore power.
We had a new
fuel monitor installed and we need to verify its accuracy. For years, Pete has assumed that we burn .7
gallons an hour when motoring and a specific amount when running the generator.
He always kept a running total in his head of the remaining gallons in the
tank. When we went to fuel up today, we
took on more fuel than he anticipated.
He played around with the numbers and realized that when motoring, we
burn closer to 1 gallon an hour. That would explain the cumulative difference
between his running total and the actual consumption.
We topped off
the water and Pete scrubbed the boat. It
was unbelievably filthy. Later, we are
going to have to do some more work on the areas where the riggers dripped oil
when lubricating the rigging. We are in good shape to continue our journey.
