Vero Beach to Titusville, FL

Today:    67.8 miles, 7.9 hours, ICW St. M 1763.4
Total:     1798.2 miles, 295.6 hours

The dog was walked at 7:20 and the dinghy was up by 8.  We un-rafted with Keith and missed saying “good-by” to Marilyn and Jon.  I didn’t see them on deck, so I though they might have caught some extra Zzz’s after the crossing.
Breezes were light as we returned to the ICW.  They slowly built as we made our way north. By the time we hit the Indian River, south of the Sabastian Inlet, the winds were NNW 15-18 with gusts over 30. Add to that, the current was against us.  It was frustrating to get bounced around and only make 5.6-5.8 mph when we know we had a lot of miles to cover. We had reservations at Titusville Marina, but around 4 we called to let them know that we would not be in until 8. He gave them payment over the phone and told them we were concerned with the wind and the challenges of finding and getting into the slip after sunset. They gave us permission to tie up at the fuel dock as long as we departed in the morning before 8 am. They also left the magnetic key in a box for us so that we could walk Bailey once we arrived.
For a good part of the day, we were traveling within site of SV SHEET MUSIC.  The name was very familiar.  I check back to our original trip north in 2011. Our paths crossed with them in Charleston and they traveled north with us for a few days.
Passing the space center, we noticed a red rocket and gantry on one of the southern launch pads. I check the site for scheduled launchings.  There is a launch tomorrow between 6:30 and 10:30 am.  After getting really excited, I read on further and discovered that it is a go, but was being launched from Wallops Island in Virginia!!!

was still ramping up
(Thanks, Martha!)
Back home, friends and family are getting hit by another Nor’easter. The mid-Atlantic states are bracing for another 12-16 inches.  Kent Island Happenings Facebook page has postings of photos of 24 inches. And there is still about 6 hours before the storm will depart!
Sunset as we entered
Titisville Municipal Marina
The Titisville bridge lit up at twilight
We were pulling into the approach to the marina 7:35, as the sun was setting. Thankfully, the winds were finally beginning to subside.  Docking was not a problem and the key was where it was supposed to be.  Dinner was a fast reheat of leftovers.  Bailey was taken for her final walk and we were more than ready to call it a day!
