To The Solomons We Go!

One happy guy!
We were up as planned.  As Pete walked Bailey, I started to put up the enclosure. Checked everything one last time, headed to the marina office to drop off paperwork, then hurried to make the 9 AM opening of the Kent Narrows Bridge.
The temps were in the 50s and the winds were increasing out of the NW.  They are supposed to increase 18-22 mph later in the day; perfect for our trip south to The Solomons on the Patuxent River. We are meeting our friends Dan and Martha Bliss of SV BRUNELLE, Gerry and Jeanne Helldorffer of SV RAGTIME, Glen and Maureen Nemecek of SV SEVILLA and their neighbors, Ann and Bob Whitcomb, of SV PINNACLE. We met at Solomon’s Landing docks, where our friends, Lois and Dave Zonderman (also CCYC members) live.

10 mph under sail!
As we arrive we are greeted by
Ann, Gerry, Glen and Dan

The winds did increase as promised. We had a fabulous sail from the Eastern Bay, west on to the Chesapeake Bay, then WSW down the Bay.  We flew down the bay averaging 7.8 to 8.4 mph, with up to 10mph courtesy of the wind gusts.  We covered the 49 miles in 8 hours instead of 9!
Happy hour was held on PINNACLE. Lots of discussions on many topics, with our cruise plans interspersed. Most importantly, we discussed our departure time of 7-7:30 AM.  Excitement, fresh air poisoning, and preparation exhaustion made it an early night.

8 Hours
49 Miles
