River Dunes to Morehead City, NC

Today:      33 miles      5.1 hours            ICW St M “203”
Total:     381 miles    64.6 hours

The fog had rolled in overnight, but quickly dissipated once the sun began to rise.  It was gone by the time Pete returned from walking Bailey.  Unfortunately, the high humidity coated everything inside and out on the enclosure.

We were able to leave the dock shortly after 8. The waters of Back Creek and upon entering the Neuse River were calm.  We joined flotilla of 11 other boats heading to Adams Creek.  As usual, the power boats separated and led the way.  There were a number of fishing boats heading out.  They always capture my attention.

We led the remaining 6 sailboats through Adams Creek. It has always been a beautiful ride. We passed a number of homes that had roof damage due to Florence.  Some were being repaired, but most wore the "lovely blue" tarps.  The current gods were with us and kept us to a 7.8+ mph trek southbound despite the winds, 10-12 mph from the south.

As we approached Bock’s Marina, we saw a number of the small boats with the elevated platforms in the bow from which the captains navigated and behind them they dragged nets.  We are pretty sure they were fishing for shrimp.
We were attached to the dock at Morehead City Yachting Center by 1:15. MY EASY LIVING was right behind us and is docked only 2 over from us.  Scott stopped by around 4.  Since the weather is not promising for tomorrow, he and Connie would like to propose heading to dinner tonight and then “dockails” aboard EASY LIVING tomorrow.  We are in!
At 5:30 we headed out with Connie, Scott and their friends, Glen and Deb, from MY MISS DEB.  Many of the restaurants are not opened due to damage form Florence.  However, we found SHUCKIN’ SHACK OYSTER BAR. We enjoyed the Crab Dip and Fish N Chips, while others had the Fired Oysters and the Low Country Boil.  Amanda, our waitress was super and the food delicious.  We really enjoyed the diverse conversations and the new friendships.
Once back at the boat, watched some TV before calling it a night.
