Exploring Downtown and "The Dig"

Today, it is off to the big city.  Ann and Howie wanted to explore the shops in town.  Before we left, Mark, the captain of Nova, the 46 foot Swan birthed in Atlantis for 3 months, gave us the names of two great restaurants in town. I wasn’t looking, but Pete found me a beautiful pair of earrings and we opted to buy an underwater digital camera.  Ann and Howie found a necklace for their niece’s Bas Mitzvah later this summer. The Straw Market had a fire and is now in very tight quarters until the new Market is completed.  After a brief foray into the tight quarters, we decided that since everything is the same, we would continue on to other shops. We had lunch at Van Bruegel's Resturant and Bar for lunch.  The service was poor, but the food was very good.
Each time we visit, the view we see changes.
Once back at Atlantis, we walked through “The Dig.”   Since the winds have kicked up, the waters are not as clear due to the agitation, but the aquarium is still amazing.

Since it is their last night, we tried to see if we could get a seat at Carmine’s for dinner. No luck there.  However, Pete was successful in getting us in at Seafire Steakhouse, where we had a stupendous meal with leftovers for another time.  Ann was able to get her Atlantis hat and we were able to get a message holder at the Atlantis store. Then it was the walk back to the boat and get ready for a very early morning wake up.  Howie requested a pick-up with the cart at 4:45 AM.

There are only 53 slips and we had the distinction of being the smallest boat in the harbor.
Time with good friends is always too short. Time with good friends in really good places just flies by, but either way, memories are always treasured.
