Exploring New Places, Friends and Foods

This morning was a lazy morning.  Howie had been working so hard just to free up a couple of days, we let them wake at their own time.  As a result we just stayed aboard this morning instead of exploring “The Dig.”
I did walk down to the Marine Office at 8 to try to make reservations for dinner. The only way to make reservations is to call a “reservation” number, but we do not have a “house” phone.  Virginia, at the Harbor Master’s Office made some calls for me in between the VHF radio calls and asked me to check in with her later. She was able to get us reservations for 5:30 at Café at the Great Hall of Waters, which was not on our choice, but it was a reservation for tonight, so I took it, thanked her and told her I would stop by later as I left without anything in on me.  I dropped of a tip when we left for the snorkeling.
Pete and I did have an invite by Kerry to come aboard his boat, Wind Dancer, a beautiful 54 foot Hylas on our port side. He and his crew are planning to do the A.R.C. later this year so he is equipping it as required by the organizers.  We also spoke at length to Mike on Muddy Waters on our starboard side.  He and his family are taking this year to cruise the Bahamas and the Great Circle with the kids aboard the Katie Krogan Whale.
We gathered on the balcony of the Royal Towers that overlooks the harbor for our snorkeling at 1:30, but we didn’t leave until 2 PM.  I wound up sitting next to a very precious 7 year old from Chicago named Jordon.  She was here with her mom, who was attending a business meeting. Everything was great until Jordon had to enter the water.  It was too cold and she raised quite a fuss. Her mom, who had never snorkeled before, was trying to coax Jordon into the water and also deal with her own concerns. Since Pete had already gotten out of the water, I went over and worked with Jordon for a while.  With the aid of a couple of mermaids, we did get her away from the boat and snorkeling.  Mom even was able to do some snorkeling.  Ann and Howie befriended a young couple on onboard.  He liked to dive to the bottom.  He brought up an old conch shell and a sand dollar.  The conch shell was given to Ann.  We were taken to snorkel off of Rose Island and Athol Island. The snorkeling was OK, but not as good as we had at Emerald Rock. At Rose Island we were one of 7 boats snorkeling, snuba or diving.
We arrived back at the harbor at 5:15, which is too late to make our dinner reservations.  Pete and Howie stopped at the desk in the Coral Hotel to change our 5:30 reservations.  They were able to get 9 PM reservations at the Chop Stix. When we returned to the boat, we found a message from Virginia.  She had confirmed reservations for us at Seafire Steakhouse (our 1st choice) at 5:30 tonight.  Unfortunately, it was already 5:30.  I walked over to The Point and requested they call over and cancel our reservation. Howie later ordered some appetizers to hold us until our dinner.
We headed over to the Coral Hotel to explore the shops and thought we might try and see if they could take us a little earlier than our 9 PM reservation; thankfully, they did. We had a wonderful meal walked back to the boat.  I really want to come back and take some night time shots.
As we walked by one area of the marina, we noticed the lights flickering inside one of the boats. As we passed the boats adjacent to that boat, we could hear the generators in the boats in that area started to kick on and noticed the dock lights were out. Thankfully, our area of the marina was not affected.
