Solo Sail to Nassau

We went to set the alarm on Pete’s phone last night and realized it has not acquired the digital signal. Since he wants it to set itself, and knowing it won’t get a digital signal until we reach Highborne Cay later tomorrow, he just set the alarm for the ungodly hour of 4:30 AM. When it went off, it was still very dark and very early.
By 6 AM DST, we very slowly made our way through the Emerald Rock mooring field with our spotlight. Nautical twilight came at 6:25 AM and we had only traveled about 4 miles.  Note to selves:  Wait for morning twilight when there is no ambient light! Radar worked, but it doesn't reflect off of plastic mooring balls!
We planned for an 11 hour day to cover the 70 miles from Emerald Rock to Nassau.  The clouds we pretty heavy this morning, but when we needed sun for Yellow Bank. Thankfully, it appeared and we were able to see the coral heads. The wind gods were also kind.  They were from 60 degrees averaging 20 knots. With the help of our main, we averaged 7. 8 mph.  As a result, we made it to Nassau around 4 PM.
Nassau Harbor Club Marina is our home for the next couple of days.  We were able to wash all the salt of boat before we sat down to enjoy the left-over chicken from last night’s dinner, John and Betty sent home with us.  Checked in with the kids, then called it a night.
